The Migros Zurich cooperative takes over German supermarket chain Tegut on 1 January 2013. The group, which is headquartered in Fulda in Germany, has around 300 stores in the German federal states of Hesse, Thuringia and northern Bavaria, generates revenue of around 1 billion euros and has a 6,000-strong workforce. Tegut was founded in Hesse in 1947 after the Second World War and, as its founder Wolfgang Gutberlet explains, is committed to the same key principles as those of Migros founder Gottlieb Duttweiler.
