For environmental reasons, Migros introduces a charge of 5 centimes for plastic bags at its stores. This reduces the number of bags handed out by 80% within a short space of time. Migros takes this step to help to conserve natural resources. It implements this voluntary, industry-wide solution approved by the Swiss Parliament as an alternative to an outright ban on plastic bags.
