After more than two decades with the Migros Group, Markus Neukom will retire at the end of September 2024. He has been Head of the Economic Policy Division for the past five years. This Division will now be merged with the Migros Group Sustainability Division on October 1, 2024. Led by Christopher Rohrer, this Division is part of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives (FMC). Jürg Maurer, previously Deputy Head of the Economic Policy Division, will take up the position of Head of Economic Policy.

Markus Neukom was Head of the Planning/Expansion Division for almost 15 years before being appointed Head of the Economic Policy Division in January 2019. “I wish to thank Markus for his many years of tireless commitment. He has shown tremendous enthusiasm and achieved a great deal for Migros,” said Mario Irminger, President of the FMC Executive Board. After his retirement, Markus Neukom will continue to represent Migros’ interests on the board of the espace.mobilité association, which he co-founded and has chaired since 2007. espace.mobilité brings together leading Swiss retail companies—such as Migros, Ikea, Manor, Coop and Pfister—and represents their interests in the areas of spatial planning, environmental affairs, and mobility.

Greater efficiency for Switzerland as a business center and for the environment

49-year-old Christopher Rohrer has been Head of the Migros Group Sustainability Division at the FMC since January 2024. He reports to Mario Irminger, President of the Executive Board.

“The Sustainability and Economic Policy Divisions have been collaborating closely for many years and are committed to creating a good economic and political framework for Switzerland as a business center and for sustainability. Merging the two Divisions will improve our efficiency,” explained Christopher Rohrer.

Prior to his current role, Rohrer spent ten years as Head of Sustainability at Denner, where he was also responsible for economic policy from 2017 onward.
