Merger

The merger of two Migros Industrie companies, Micarna SA based in Bazenheid/Courtepin, canton Fribourg, and Optigal SA, based in Courtepin, is approved with effect from 1 January 2006. Optigal SA is integrated into Micarna SA as its Poultry business unit, thus enabling many synergies to be harnessed. Micarna is to consist of three business units – Fresh Meat, Charcuterie and Poultry. The two companies generate net sales of around CHF 818 million and employ a workforce of approx. 1900.
