Migros celebrates Switzerland's anniversary

1 / 6

As a major company with close ties to the country, Switzerland's 700th anniversary also provides an opportunity for Migros to support the celebrations, historical awareness and cultural activities. The colourful "Abenteuer Schweiz" "(Swiss Adventure"), in which Hans-Peter Treichler and former Federal Councillor Georges-André Chevallaz illustrate the nation's history passing through the centuries, is published for its members with a print run of 715,000 copies. Migros invites 700 school classes to visit the national research exhibition "Heureka" in Zurich. Various cultural activities, including ballet performances by Maurice Béjart and Heinz Spoerli, are supported and promoted. This includes the giant "Amboss" (Anvil) sculpture by Bernhard Luginbühl which is installed in the "Im Grünen" park in Münchenstein on 17 September as a gift from the FMC and Migros Basel. Needless to say, all Migros employees get 1 August off to enjoy the anniversary celebrations.
