"I never thought I would get this far. This experience has shown me that I can achieve a great deal by showing commitment and pleasure in doing my job – similar to my experiences with my customers," says 23-year-old Valentina Winkler, who is delighted with her success. As a specialist in exercise and health promotion at movemi, she coaches a diverse clientele in the fitness parks in Bern and Ostermundigen – from 30-year-old marathon runners to 95-year-olds. With her ambition to give her best every day, she came in 1st place in the "Specialist in Exercise and Health Promotion" category at the vocational championships.

Successful partnership with SwissSkills

Migros supported SwissSkills as a presenting partner for the third time since 2014. This year's vocational championships, which were held from 17 to 21 September in Bern, attracted over 1,100 young professionals, and although professions in the commercial and retail sectors, in which Migros trains many apprentices, did not take part, the young talented individuals from Migros demonstrated their expertise in areas such as IT and polymechanics. At the Migros stand, visitors were also able to explore an interactive labyrinth in the shape of an "M", which gave them a fun introduction to a wide range of professions.

Vocational training at the Migros Group

Every year, Migros offers 1,500 apprenticeships in approximately 50 professions, making it the largest provider of vocational training in Switzerland. Apprentices are supported with a great deal of dedication and benefit from a strong team and attractive advantages depending on the company, such as stages within the Migros Group, subsidies for public transport travelcards, additional Cumulus points when shopping and six weeks' holiday.

Migros is proud of its talent and is delighted to continue to support and encourage young people like Valentina Winkler on their career path. Further information on our range of apprenticeships: jobs.migros.ch
