Migros uses independent experts to calculate the CO2 emissions and environmental impact of individual food and non-food products. On 15 January, Migros becomes the first Swiss retailer to introduce the CO2 declaration for products. This step helps meet consumers' growing demand for transparency and products with minimal climate impact. This approach ensures maximum customer friendliness – the aim is to make sure that everyone can easily recognise these products (see label). These products—known as CO2 champions—undergo rigorous testing by the WWF Climate Group (of which Migros is a member) which is then critically reviewed by a second specialist body. - The first products to achieve recognised status are two detergents. Toilet roll, Léger cream, organic raw sugar from Paraguay and the Migros reusable plastic carrier bag are added to the list over the course of the year. Migros itself also cuts CO2 emissions in the production of various foods – it achieves this through heat recovery systems, by upgrading building shells and switching to eco-friendly technologies.
