First five sales vehicles

1 / 17

The first five Migros AG sales vehicles hit the road in August 1925. Everything is centred around them in the early years. After all, they act as sales outlets, ambassadors and valuable advertising media all in one. Just like on a travelling billboard, seasonal promotions can be advertised here. The Ford T vehicles stop at 178 locations in the city of Zurich for ten minutes at a time. This all works around a very precise timetable and the vehicles go out in all weathers – even stormy conditions or snow. Sales van drivers have a tough job – their days are long. First of all, they must perform the role of both salesperson and driver. As the sales vans get bigger and the product range wider, they are assisted by one sales assistant per vehicle. The vans can be loaded up in 20 minutes thanks to the monorail system with sliding racks.
