On 1 June 1940, Gottlieb Duttweiler announces in the "Zeitung in der Zeitung" that Migros AG will be run as a cooperative in future. This decision is preceded by heated discussions within Migros. In the same year, Gottlieb Duttweiler publishes a national exhibition book entitled "Eines Volkes Sein und Schaffen" ("A People's Being and Work"). It is priced at the cost price of CHF 1.50. The following year, "William Tell" becomes the first Migros cooperative book to be distributed free of charge to cooperative members to improve mental resilience.
