Jules Kyburz takes over the reins from Pierre Arnold on 1 January to become President of the Gottlieb and Adele Duttweiler Foundation. Andreas Münch is appointed Head of the Logistics and IT department on the Executive Board by the FMC Board of Directors. He takes up his new position as the successor to Armin Meier on 1 April. On 1 July, Herbert Bolliger, former Managing Director of Migros Aare, follows in the footsteps of Anton Scherrer and is appointed President of the FMC Executive Board. He is succeeded at Migros Aare by Beat Zahnd. Anton Scherrer retires and is appointed Chairman of the Swisscom Board of Directors in 2006. Beat Schwander, who had successfully managed Optigal SA since 1989, passes away suddenly on 6 August. He suffers a heart attack on a business trip to Austria and dies in hospital in Graz. On 1 September, Fabrice Zumbrunnen takes over as head of the Migros Neuchâtel-Fribourg cooperative from Elie Amsellem. On 17 June, the newly formed Migros Valais Board of Directors appoints Max Alter as Managing Director of Migros Valais, who takes up his position on 1 November. There is also a personnel change at Scana Lebensmittel AG which was acquired by FMC three years ago. The Board of Directors appoints Walter Brandenberger as the new CEO. He replaces Walter Hilti, the former owner and Managing Director of Scana.
