Migros is set to sell almost the entire Hotelplan Group to the DERTOUR Group. The deal does not include holiday-home specialist Interhome, which will be taken over by the HomeToGo Group. The new owners are both well-established tourism companies and thus ideally positioned to successfully pursue the ongoing development of the Hotelplan Group's specialist fields: travel and holiday homes. The services offered by the Hotelplan Group and Interhome as well as associated bookings will remain unchanged for customers and sales partners alike.
Migros has secured highly experienced new owners for the entire Hotelplan Group. The DERTOUR Group, one of Europe's leading travel providers, is acquiring the travel agency and tour operator businesses in Switzerland, Germany and the UK. At the same time, the HomeToGo Group, publicly listed in Germany, is acquiring the holiday home specialist Interhome, which is ideally suited to the company's HomeToGo_PRO B2B segment. "The DERTOUR Group and the HomeToGo Group provide us with a good solution for the future of the entire Hotelplan Group. The two companies are ideally placed to continue driving the different business areas forward," says Michel Gruber, the Chairman of the Hotelplan Group Board of Directors and Head of the Retail Department at the Federation of Migros Cooperatives. "It's hard for Migros to part ways with Hotelplan after so many years. However, we are delighted Hotelplan has secured such highly experienced new owners who are keen to build on the strengths of the Hotelplan Group and Interhome."
The handover to the new owners is subject to approval by the relevant authorities.
DERTOUR Group welcomes Hotelplan Group
The DERTOUR Group will take over all of the Hotelplan Group's business units apart from its holiday-home operations. DERTOUR, based in Germany, has always relied on well-known brands in its international markets and plans to continue operating the Hotelplan Group brands. "We look forward to leading the Hotelplan Group and its popular and well-established travel brands to further growth as part of our tourism network. As the tourism division of the REWE Group, which is also set up as a cooperative, we are an attractive employer. We already share common values that define our activities. These include offering an excellent customer experience, personal advice and sustainability," explains Dr. Ingo Burmester, the CEO Central Europe and a member of the DERTOUR Group Executive Board. "This step provides clear benefits for our employees, guests and partners." As a part of the international DERTOUR Group, Hotelplan will in future have access to an extensive global network of partners. At the same time, DERTOUR will benefit from the Hotelplan Group's strategic investments in digital solutions, enabling DERTOUR to provide an even more attractive and varied range of high-quality holidays in future.
HomeToGo expanding its portfolio with Interhome
HomeToGo and Interhome already have a successful trust-based partnership that began over ten years ago when HomeToGo was founded. "We're delighted to welcome Interhome to the HomeToGo Group. In this new chapter, both companies will be able to capitalise on their impressive strengths in order to provide both the owners of holiday homes and their guests with an even better booking and travel experience," says HomeToGo CEO and co-founder Dr. Patrick Andrae. "Combining HomeToGo's innovative software and tech-enabled solutions and well-established marketplace with Interhome's outstanding holiday-home and service expertise will pave the way for even more advanced and efficient solutions. Interhome will become a central pillar of our HomeToGo_PRO B2B segment and will retain its usual focus on the rental and management of holiday homes as well as the services and personal support. Interhome will remain an independent company and a traditional Swiss brand with a 60-year history for guests and owners alike, including the local service offices and the accustomed first-class service."
Business areas undergoing further development
DERTOUR and HomeToGo plan to successfully develop the different business areas of Hotelplan and Interhome acquired respectively. Highly skilled and committed employees will play a decisive role in this. The workforce of the Hotelplan Group will be transferred to the new owners as part of the double transaction.
No change for customers as regards holiday plans and bookings
Nothing will change for the customers, holiday home owners and sales partners of all Hotelplan Group brands, including Interhome. The teams will continue to provide customers with the usual high level of service and reliability for booked and future trips, both online and at travel agencies. All booked holidays and business trips will go ahead as scheduled, while the services of all the brands will be available for booking on any desired date.
