The President of the Migros Delegates' Meeting inaugurates the new Migros in Matran

As Migros celebrates its 100th anniversary, Migros Neuchâtel-Fribourg is proud to open its 51st shop in the newly renovated Matran Centre on Thursday 25 September. This 1,500 m2 MM branch offers a wide range of products in a bright, modern environment, with the new Migros sales concepts providing, for example, quick access to snacks, convenience products and fresh produce.

A line of honour formed by the shop's employees awaited the first customers at 7.30am on Thursday 25 September 2025. A few minutes earlier, Edith Spillmann, President of the Migros Delegates' Meeting, together with Stéphane Berset, Commercial Director of Migros Neuchâtel-Fribourg, handed over a symbolic key to Laure Meuwly, Manager of the new Migros in Matran. "I'm delighted to be opening this new shop and meeting the customers of Fribourg," said Edith Spillmann, before congratulating the teams on their hard work and positive attitude. The Chairwoman of the Delegates' Meeting took advantage of her presence to talk to the many customers who had come to discover their new Migros.

The Delegates' Meeting: Migros' supreme body
The Delegates' Meeting has 111 members, who generally meet twice a year to vote on major projects. One hundred of these people are representatives of the regional cooperatives, elected by a general vote of their members. All co-operatives are entitled to at least five delegates, with the remainder divided between them in proportion to the number of co-operators registered during the last two calendar years prior to the elections. In addition to these delegations, there is an ad hoc representative appointed by each of the ten cooperatives. The Delegates' Meeting is chaired by an independent external chairwoman, currently Edith Spillmann.

Among the tasks of this supreme body of the Migros organisation are the adoption and amendment of the Articles of Association, the election and re-election of members of the Board of Directors, the approval of the Annual Report and the annual accounts of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives, and the appropriation of balance sheet profit.the annual accounts of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives, and the appropriation of balance sheet profit.
