Change of Micarna Group CEO
Thomas Garcke is taking over as CEO of the Micarna Group

The Micarna Group, Switzerland's leading meat, poultry, egg and seafood producer, is about to get a new CEO. On 1 July 2025, Thomas Garcke will take over the role of CEO from Hans-Ruedi Christen, who is leaving Migros Industrie at his own request after more than 30 years to take up new challenges.
Thomas Garcke brings extensive expertise from the meat industry. Since joining Micarna, in August 2024, he has been preparing intensively for his new role. The highly experienced business administration graduate previously headed Weidemark Fleischwaren GmbH & Co, a leading slaughterhouse and meat cutting plant with about 1400 employees. He also gained valuable experience in strategic corporate management as a Management Board member of the pork division of the Premium Food Group (formerly the Tönnies Group).
Since joining the Micarna Group, Thomas Garcke has focused on familiarising himself with the workforce, structures and processes of both the business and Migros Industrie. "The Micarna Group is a decisive factor in the success of the entire Migros Group, guaranteeing its customers a sustainable supply of high-quality products. Together with our workforce and partners, I aim to build further on the existing solid foundations and increase the Micarna Group's competitive edge," Thomas Garcke says.
Outgoing CEO Hans-Ruedi Christen has been providing Thomas Garcke with an in-depth introduction to the key strategic and operational issues over the past few months. After the official handover, Hans-Ruedi Christen will focus on strategic projects at Migros Industrie until the end of October 2025, when he will leave Migros Industrie after more than three decades in various positions. On 1 July 2025, he will join the Board of Directors of the Migros Zurich Cooperative.
By carefully planning the transfer of its corporate management, the Micarna Group is sending a clear message regarding continuity and innovation.
