The COVID-19 pandemic reduces public life to a minimum and the Swiss population is asked to stay at home. During the lockdown, Migros launches the Amigos platform for neighbourhood support in conjunction with Pro Senectute. Especially vulnerable people can place their orders online and volunteers deliver them to their homes. The free delivery service is met with a great response: within just a few days, over 14,000 volunteers sign up, including professional athletes who are well known in Switzerland. Around 75,000 deliveries are made in 2020.
