The Elsa Group sells its Dutch subsidiary SoFine to The New Originals Company in order to make optimum use of its specialization in plant-based products and secure the future success of SoFine. The sale will have no negative impact on employees. Migros is thus also solely focusing on the Swiss market in the plant-based product categories.

Elsa Group sells its subsidiary SoFine to The New Originals Company (NOC), a company specializing in plant-based products such as tofu. SoFine produces tofu and meat substitutes in Landgraaf, the Netherlands, which are primarily intended for the European market. It also supplies Migros supermarkets with a small but very popular range of products.

"SoFine and The New Originals Company are a perfect match. This sale provides SoFine with specialized support that will reinforce its future success," says Matthew Robin, CEO of the Elsa Group. NOC is taking over both the site and the approximately one hundred employees.

"We are very pleased to be expanding our expertise in the long term with the new location and highly qualified employees. With SoFine, we are expanding our portfolio to include established and popular plant-based products, particularly in the convenience segment, and are developing the entire category in a targeted and innovative way," says Matthias Krön, CEO of the New Originals Company.

Migros focuses on the Swiss business

The sale of SoFine is part of the Migros Group's focus on its core business, which the company announced at the beginning of February 2024. Migros Group focuses on the business segments of retail (food and non-food), financial services (Migros Bank) and health (Medbase Group). It aims to impress its retail customers with attractive prices, top quality, good service and a wide range of products for every budget.

The sale of SoFine has no impact on Migros' positioning in its plant-based product category, which continues to offer its loyal customers a wide range of products.
