Migros has always adopted a fair, responsible and sustainable wage policy. In close and constructive collaboration with its social partners—the Migros Group National Commission (LAKO), the Swiss Association of Commercial Employees and the Swiss Butchers' Staff Association—it has agreed pay rises of 0.3% to 0.4%. A fair and future-minded consensus was reached during constructive and cooperative talks.

Migros' social responsibility

Simone Sofia, President of the National Commission, said: "The pay rises show that, despite Migros facing challenging times, we take the needs of our workforce seriously, while also taking account of the reality of the economic situation." Andrea Krapf, Head of HRM and Commitment Migros Engagement within the Migros Group and a member of the FMC Executive Board, said: "Migros adopts a policy of fairness and respect - this is not just reflected by this year's pay rises, but also by the positive real wage development over recent years. Migros also offers exceptionally good social benefits."

Migros offers one of the best pension funds in Switzerland with impressive interest earnings on retirement assets (currently 7.5%), generous family benefits, such as four weeks' paternity leave, child allowances that far exceed what is required by law and flexible working time models that promote a successful work-life balance. It also provides a wide range of training and development opportunities, attractive employee offers, loyalty bonuses, additional Cumulus points as well as extensive health and prevention programmes.

A strong signal in challenging times

The agreed pay rises of 0.3% to 0.4% are significantly higher than the inflation rate of 0.2% forecast for 2025. This means that Migros Group employees are benefiting from a real wage increase for the fourth time in a row. This will strengthen their purchasing power, which is extremely important given the rising cost of living. Migros is sending out a clear signal of appreciation and reliability to its workforce.

Implementation at a regional level

Within the pay rise range agreed at national level, the specific wage increases will now be determined at the individual companies in conjunction with the respective local staff councils (PEKO). The emphasis will be placed on recognising individual performances. The increases apply to all companies covered by the national collective employment agreement (L-GAV).

A special MERCI in Migros' centenary year

Migros is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2025 – a major milestone that was celebrated with customers, partners, the whole of Switzerland and, of course, especially with the company's employees.

To mark the end of its anniversary year, Migros wishes to thank all of its employees with a token of appreciation in the form of a Migros gift card. The gift card's value depends on the individual employee's level of employment. Employees whose level of employment is 50% or over will receive a gift card worth CHF 300. Migros has earmarked around CHF 20 million for this purpose to say "Merci" for the incredible commitment that all employees show to Migros every day.

Our social partners

  • Migros Group National Commission: The National Commission (LAKO) is the umbrella organisation for all the staff councils (PEKOs) of the companies within the Migros Group. It has the status of an inter-company social partner. It represents the common interests of all the PEKOs and addresses overarching issues that cannot be tackled by individual staff councils. Its responsibilities include collective bargaining and the annual wage negotiations at inter-company level. It is also committed to education and training on employment law and the involvement of social partners.

  • Swiss Association of Commercial Employees: The Swiss Association of Commercial Employees is the centre of excellence for training and careers in commercial and business fields as well as in the retail industry. It supports and provides information for its members and customers on all aspects of their careers. It also represents employees in the banking and insurance, retail, trade, industry, aviation and temporary staffing sectors in approximately 40 collective employment agreements and works to improve their employability. Through its education establishments—business schools offering basic and continuing education, the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration (HWZ) and the Swiss Institute of Business Administration (SIB)—the Swiss Association of Commercial Employees provides practical initial and continuing vocational training. As a sponsor or co-sponsor of various professional and specialised exams, it plays an active role in shaping the Swiss education system.

  • Butchers' Staff Association Switzerland: Ever since its foundation back in 1899, the Metzgereipersonal-Verband der Schweiz (Butchers' Staff Association Switzerland, MPV) has been one of Switzerland's most traditional and yet forward-looking professional staff associations. The MPV represents specialists and employees who proudly contribute their knowledge and skills to the Swiss meat industry at every level. It also protects the professional interests of workers in Switzerland's convenience sector. The MPV aims to continuously improve working conditions and promote the professional development of employees in the meat and convenience industry. MPV members also receive financial support to achieve these goals.
